I made this Troll hat by Gabriela Widmer-Hanke from a pattern on Raverly. I used a large remnant of violet, acrylic, dk yarn on size 7 needles.

Jackie O Blanket
I lost track of exactly what color green and brand of silky, worsted weight yarn that I used for Jackie O's Lace Chevron Blanket. It didn't look so much like a chevron pattern to me, as it did a vine pattern, so I decorated it in cherry blossoms, using fine weight scraps of lavendar, purple and violet, edged in Patons Lace in cream, using and E hook. I made her initials using this Block Letters pattern.

Lamb Hat & Shrug for Jenny's Baby Girl
This little Rejoice Shrug was quick and easy to make. I actually wish the pattern was in adult sizes, too. Note to self - *Finishing Sleeves section - when the instructions say 'Continue as established for 3 rows,' it does NOT refer to increases. Do not increase in this section.
I used Bernat Cottontots in blue berry; machine washable and dryable, 100% cotton for my first attempt, but I goofed up and added unnecessary increases in the section mentioned above.
The final shrug was made on size 10 needles using Lyon Brand acrylic yarn in cream in size 6-12 mo to help compensate for the smaller sized needles.

I made the lamb hat in size 0-3 mo from the pattern Crochet Lamb Hat in Red Heart heather grey acrylic yarn using a K hook. I used Lyon Brand acrylic yarn in cream for the insides of the ears.
I made the bow using thick red yarn thread (I have no idea what it is, as I bought it at the thrift store) and size 1 needles.
Bow pattern
co 12
row 1 - knit all stitches
row 2 - k2, p8, k2
row 3 to 8 - repeat rows 1 & 2
bind off knitwise

Jenny had a lovely baby shower. I can't wait to see the outfit on her baby girl. :)

Pixie Bonnets for Kayla and Jocelyn
Another call for Pixie Bonnets!
My friend, Colleen, saw the pixie bonnets and wanted some for her girls, but they aren't infants any more and my pattern is only for infants. The pattern was easy to expand and these are the three products of my experimentation.
Kayla

Jocelyn

Round four (I think) of the beloved Pixie Bonnet.
The bright pink, white and green bonnet was made from remnant yarn. It's the smaller of the three and I followed the pattern directions, but I increased the cast on to 66. It's decorated with a bright apple green ribbon woven around the back side of the bonnet, with a white button strung through the ribbon.
The grey bonnet was made using Loops & Threads Impeccable in True Gray. It's the medium sized hat and I altered the pattern by casting on 70. I crocheted a pink butterfly from one of the many patters on Crochet Pattern Central and added in a dark gray line of yarn for the body and antenna.
The pink, brown and cream bonnet was made using Loops & Threads Impeccable worsted in Neopolitan Ombre. It's the largest bonnet and I cast on 74. It's decorated with a cream braid that I sewed on to the crown of the bonnet and little, fuzzy pink flowers that I made up just goofing around and embellished with pink beads.

Sisters at Play
The success of these bonnets is due to the adorable little heads they top. It doesn't get any cuter than Jocelyn and Kayla. Just look at the lovely faces I get to knit for.

*Thanks to Krisie, James and Kendra. Your generosity helped buy materials that made these gifts. :)

Another Pixie Bonnet
This Pixie Bonnet pattern from Allcrafts.net has become one of my favorites to knit. It works up really quickly and the way the top comes to a peak is just adorable.
I made this one from a fuzzy, light blue remnant that has a thread of black in it. I'd say it is probably worsted weight. I also decided to add a little ball on a string.
Just adorable!

Pixie Bonnet for Christine's Baby Girl
I found the pattern for this Pixie Bonnet for free on Allcrafts.net.
I used more of my Premier Yarns Angel self shading yarn in the color 'Baby Daisy' (which is a worsted weight) on size 7 needles.
This is a newborn pattern but what's nice is that there seems to be a lot of room for variation in size with the rib stitch. I just love how it comes to a peak in the back.
I crafted this bonnet for Christine's little girl that is still on her way. :)
Many thanks to Jillian for being my accommodating model even though she wasn't newborn sized anymore. :)

Donations for Whiskers, Tails and Ferals
Here are a few items I crocheted and donated to Whiskers, Tails and Ferals' Christmas Tree lot to try and help raise money for their cat and dog rescuing program.
Ava Hats
I made these Ava hats from a pattern I found at Hooked On Crochet using Bernat ultrasoft cotton yarn. I like to work with cotton yarn; it has a bit of grab when working with it (I sometimes have trouble with stitches sliding around) and the finished product has a bit of rigidity to it. The pattern worked up really quick and I just love the ribbon accent.
Baby Swirl Hat
I crocheted this newborn swirl hat with Premier Yarns Angel self shading yarn in the color 'Baby Daisy' from a pattern found at Craft Tutorials. The yarn is bouncy and light, but since it is made of two slightly puffy strands wound together, I had trouble accidentally splitting the yarn while working with it.
Also, I'm not too sure that I like the 'sinch to close top' style of hat. I never seem to be able to get the hole closed enough. I actually have multiple unfinished hats for this reason. In answer to the problem, I made a little pompom to cover the remaining hole.
Mushroom Pocket
This 'Shroom' pattern I found at Crochet Me was a lot of fun to make. It's my first amigurumi style creation. Mine didn't turn out as nice as the one in the pattern, but I'm going to try again and make a few small adjustments to the pattern. I'm hoping to figure out a way to make the lid separately and then sew it on, since my trouble was with getting the attached lid to line up correctly. I also think I might add a little filler to the base to help it keeps its form.

Sheep Blanket for Orlando
When I found out that my cousin was pregnant and that the baby's room had a farm style theme, I remembered this wonderful afghan I saw in Family Circle Easy Knitting Fall 2004 magazine. It was the first blanket I had ever knit. I had never changed yarn color in one project, carried yarn on the back side or dealt with different textures. It was way more complicated than I could have ever guessed, but I learned so much along the way.

I worked with llh tara yarn for the apple green color. It's a lovely Cotton/Nylon blend. It slid along the needles like slightly bouncy butter. The black and white yarns were from the back room of the store; no label, no information. They were fuzzy and slippery all at the same time. I wish I had some reference point for those two yarns; I'd like to work with them again.
To my utter surprise, the sheep blanket took two years to make! I may have gotten in over my head in my first knitted afghan endeavor. Now that Orlando is 18 months, it is finally done! Congratulations on your baby boy, Happy First Birthday, and Happy Thanksgiving all rolled into one.

Hat for Jillian
This is a version of the Cupcake Hat found at Slumberland.org. The site has wonderful pictures of the hat, the pattern is in pdf form, and the author can accept paypal donations for the pattern she created.
I made this little hat for another new little cousin-to-be, Jillian. Her room is pink, chocolate brown and tan with a bit of apple green.
I made mine on US #7 needles because I used Caron Simply Soft worsted weight yarn. The flower pattern, in particular, gave me a little trouble in comprehending the pattern. The first flower was an absolute disaster. After making a mess of the first one, I understood what the instructions were and it turned out to be the most fun part of making the Cupcake Hat.
Since I used a vastly different yarn, my pictures don't look exactly like the hats from the original pattern. Actually, my hat resembles the little pink jellyfish from Finding Nemo.
