Christmas Gorros

Christmas hats for Yesie, Paola, and Mia

(featuring Audrey and Hazel)
~~~
Yesie picked a pink and white Owl Hat made with a progressive pink and white dc remnant and glitter yarn accents. The pattern is based on this owl hat pattern.
Paola originally picked a cotton, rainbow hat with earflaps, but then changed her mind (many times) to a strawberry hat.
Mia picked a sparkly berry cat hat with silver ears.
Mermaid Tail Blanket
I found this mermaid pattern on Ravelry.  I made it for my sweet friend, Beth, and all of the little ones that come to her daycare.
I used a K hook and leftover worsted weight yarn:
Light pink - Vanna's Choice Pink Rose
Lavender - Lion's Pride Woolspun Orchid (which is bulky weight and too thick)
Violet - Vanna's Choice Magenta
Purple - Red Heart Soft Grape
Blue - Red Heart Soft in Seafoam
Green- Lion Brand Heartland in Everglades
~~~

The only comment I have on the mermaid ruffle pattern is when starting the tail, I would attach it from underneath, not on top of the scale ruffles.

~~~
Back side
I used a basic wave pattern knit on size 9 needles with remnant yarn.  Change colors every 4 rows in descending order to match(ish) the front color scheme.
R2D2 Hat for Britton's Star Wars Birthday
I made this R2D2 hat for Britton's Star Wars birthday from an R2D2 Beanie pattern found on Carissa Knits blog.
I made the child's size beanie using Vanna's choice in Silver Grey and Royal Blue, with buttons for... buttons.
Happy Birthday, Britton.  :)  <3
Lessons with Safety Yarn
Robyn and Heidi came over for Super Girly Crafty Fun Time and both took on crochet for the first time.
First timers require the safety yarn of warnings and nooblets.
~~~

Heidi is making a safety muffin potholder mask...

Complete with convenient finger holes.

Next time I'm going to talk her into making her own Beard Beanie.

Silly Heidi

Robyn is perfecting the art of laying the yarn across the top and laughing.

Next stop - hat for Doug!

Robyn's socks of cuteness
Speed crochet!

I worked on my R2D2 hat while Pants dominated the laptop and kept an eye on us.

Looks of disapproval lead to knit-breading the cat.

Fish Hat for the Dodge boys

Photobucket

I found this adorable Fish Hat at Knitty.com via Allcrafts.net.

I used Lily Sugar 'n Cream cotton worsted weight yarn. The body is from a giant mixed ball that I don't know the name of and the accent colors are Hot Blue, White, and Mod Green.

I had a bit of trouble with the tail, so I'm not super thrilled with how it turned out. I read and reread the instructions, but I couldn't really suss out the where and how. I decided to just go ahead with it and mess with it when it was done. The end result? Well, it's done! :)

For some reason the kids didn't want to wear it as a hat or just pulled down over their faces.
They wanted to be completely consumed by the fish hat.

Even dads like fish hats. :)
